Subsidiary Rights

Licensing and rights information for our catalog

What are Subsidiary Rights?

Subsidiary rights (also called subrights) refer to the right to exploit a published work in formats and markets beyond the original publication. When an author signs a publishing contract with Reynolds Communications, they grant us the opportunity to license various subsidiary rights to generate additional revenue and expand the reach of their work to new audiences.

These rights are separate from the primary publishing rights and can include translations, audio adaptations, film and television options, digital licensing, serialization, and more. Subsidiary rights help authors maximize the commercial potential of their intellectual property while allowing Reynolds Communications to serve readers across different markets and formats.

Types of Subsidiary Rights We License

Translation Rights

We license the right to translate our catalog into foreign languages, enabling our books to reach international audiences. We work with established foreign publishers and translation houses to bring English-language works to readers around the world in their native languages.

Audio Rights

Audio editions have become increasingly popular with the growth of audiobook platforms and narration technology. We license audio rights to audiobook publishers and distribution platforms, bringing stories to listeners across devices and formats.

Film & Television Rights

Our literary catalog attracts interest from film and television producers seeking compelling source material. We license film and television adaptation rights to studios and production companies, helping bring stories from page to screen.

Digital & Electronic Rights

Digital rights encompass e-book publications, digital subscriptions, interactive digital experiences, and new technologies. We license digital rights to e-book platforms, subscription services, and digital publishers.

Serial Rights

Serial rights allow portions or serialized versions of books to be published in magazines, newspapers, anthologies, or other periodicals. This generates exposure for authors and additional revenue streams.

Book Club Rights

We license rights to book clubs and reading groups, including major book club organizations and community reading programs. Book club editions help reach dedicated readers who discover and purchase books through these channels.

Large Print & Special Editions

Large print editions serve visually impaired readers and those who prefer larger typefaces. We also license rights for special editions including illustrated versions, gift editions, and other specialized formats.

Merchandise & Character Rights

For books with distinctive characters or brands, we license merchandise rights allowing products like toys, apparel, games, and collectibles based on the book's characters or themes.
